Another Milestone To -History of Education

The Mayem Nagarik Kruti Samiti (MNKS) has convened a special meeting on Janurary13 at Mahamaya library, Gaonkarwada-Mayem, at 4pm, to decide the future course of action over the issue of custodian of evacuee property Mayem. MNKS president Kashinath Mayekar and secretary Sakahram Pednekar have stated that the meeting will be attended by legislative assembly speaker Rajendra Arlekar, deputy speaker Anant Shet, president of Goa freedom fighters association Nagesh Karamali, senior freedom fighters Prabhakar Sinari, Chandrakant Pednekar, Florian Dias and Shyamsundar Nagvekar and advisory member advocate Ajeetsingh Rane.

CM to flag-off Shiksha ka haq campaign: Chief minister Manohar Parrikar will flag-off Goa Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan's 'Shiksha ka haq' campaign on January 14, at 10am, from the South Goa collectorate in Margao. From Margao, the float will move to rural areas of Goa, where the block resource centres would visit schools, public places and village panchayats to create awareness of the RTE Act.

Condolence meet for Shalini Mardolkar: The Tiatr Academy of Goa will organize a meeting to condole the death of film and tiatr artiste Shalini Mardolkar on January 14 at 4.30pm at Ravindra Bhavan's Black Box, Margao. Tiatr artistes and tiatr lovers are requested to attend the condolence meet.

 TAG's Konkani song, music awards: The Tiatr academy of Goa (TAG) has invited entries of Konkani audio albums for the 'Konkani song & music awards'. The audio albums produced between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2012, will be eligible for these awards. The album should have a minimum eight songs and all the songs should be in Konkani. The 'best Konkani audio album of the year' will be awarded Rs 20,000, while Rs 10,000 each will be awarded to the best 'male singer of the year (solo)', 'female singer of the year (solo)', 'duet of the year', 'duo of the year', 'trio of the year', 'quartet of the year', 'choral song of the year', 'lyricist of the year' and 'music composer of the year'. The best male and female child singers will be awarded Rs 5,000 each. Application forms and other details can be obtained from TAG's office, Campal Trade Centre, Panaji. Entries should be submitted latest by 4pm on January 24..
